Enif (epsilon Pegasi) is the brightest star in the constellation Pegasus.
The star is also known as Enf, Enir, Al Anf, Os Pegasi and Fom. The star is a red super giant and varies in brightness. In 1972, Enif reached even magnitude +0.7 and then quickly back down to its usual brightness. It is speculated that this was the result of a very large and clear "star flame".
In the vicinity of Enif is the spherical star-shaped M15. Its brightness is 7.5 magnitude and therefore not visible to the naked eye.
