Jules Van de Leene (Ixelles, May 10, 1887 - Oudergem, 1962) was a Belgian painter. biography
Young already demonstrated talent, he studied at the Academies of Ixelles and Brussels (at Meunier and Montald). From 1913 his professional painter career was run. Van de Leene lived for a while in Damme, but then lived in Oudergem, where he built a house at Bocqstraat 13. He was a member of the local artist association Cercle Artistique d'Auderghem.
He painted figures (female nudes, kitchen men, a violinist ...), portraits, interiors, still lifes, landscapes. He also worked in oil paint as in watercolor. Van de Leene also made etching. A beautiful etch is the crosspiece of a pillar in the devastated church of Nieuwpoort in the background and dramatic cloud sky. He is a typical advantage of a valuable, technically well-educated "tutor" from the early 19th century and the interbellum.
During his life, in 1949, he got a street name in Oudergem. In 1935 he exhibited in "La Petite Galerie" in Brussels, together with Fernand Toussaint. Collections Literature
