The Áo dài (pronounced: Au-jaai in the south and Au-sowing in the north) is a traditional garment from Vietnam. Literally, Áo means 'long dress' or long shirt.

The Áo dài consists of a silk pants, with a long dress with splits that covers the body of the neck. Young girls and students must wear a white Áo dài. The girls who are older but not married wear light pastels. The Áo dài of married women are usually brightly colored.

The Áo dài is tight around the body so that, despite the fact that the garment obscures everything, the body shapes are still accentuated. Sources
