Mena Brewery

Brewery Mena is a former beer brewery that was active in the Belgian municipality of Rotselaar from 1897 to 1969.

MeNa

The brewery was founded in 1897 within the existing farm of Eduard Meynckens, who had learned the stolen at Brouwerij Van Roost (Jack-Op) in Werchter. After his death, son Valère Meynckens continued the business in collaboration with Henri Nackaerts. The first two letters of their both surnames were used as company name: MeNa.

Boelt and Dobbelen Boelt produced the high fermentation beer and from 1930 the Mena-Pils was also brewed. In order to accommodate rising production, a 24-meter high-rise building was created in 1933 in Art Deco style. Cultural destination

In 1969, the brewery was acquired by Artois Brewery, which was founded in Interbrew in 1988. The building itself was classified as a protected monument in 1994. A restoration of around € 4 million transformed the brewery into a municipal cultural center.

In 2008, the former brewery was re-appointed to municipal leisure center, including the library and numerous meeting rooms. Numerous relics (photos, beer bottles, publicity material) are permanently exhibited in the building. Also see
