One Must Fall 2097

One Must Fall 2097 (OMF 2097) is a computer game for the PC developed by Diversions Entertainment and published by Epic Games in 1994.

The game is essentially a fighting game, with huge robots collecting it in an arena. The robots (HARS, Human Assisted Robots) are controlled remotely by people. They were originally developed by the company WAR (World Aeronautics and Robotics) to support human beings in the exploration and exploitation of the solar system. The player can choose from different models of robots, each with their own strengths and weaknesses, and with a set of special moves against which the opponent may be more difficult to defend but who require a specific combination of keys to use them.

In 1999, the publisher released the game as freeware. Play modes Singleplayermodus In single player mode, the user plays 'against the computer', with a flint-thin background story. The company WAR holds a tournament to determine who is in charge of building the first base at Ganymedes. The player can choose from ten available characters and sequentially record against all other characters, with the final boss: Major Kreissack, Director of WAR, with the new Nova robot. If the player has defeated Kreissack, it appears that the tournament was actually a test of a new technology to place human brain in a robot (the Nova). Tournament Mode In tournament mode, the player can participate in four tournaments in which they play against different computer opponents. The player begins with the 'simplest' robot, the Jaguar. The prize money can then be used to purchase upgrades for the robot, follow training, or buy a more advanced robot to eventually win the world championship. Multiplayer mode The game has a two player mode in which two players behind the same computer play split screen. Later, a network multiplayer mode was added.
