Pontus de Huyter (also De Heuter, gelatinized to Pontus Heuterus) (Delft, 1535 - Sint Truiden, August 9, 1602) was a Dutch theologian, historian and humanist.
After his studies in the Netherlands, he moved to Paris for a short while. Shortly thereafter he became a priest and canonist in Gorcum. Later he also obtained offices in Sint-Truiden, Deventer and Arnhem. In 1572 he was captured by the Waters, but managed to escape the fate of Gorcum's Martyrs. He fled to the South and became a pastor in Jabbeke. However, in 1578 he returned to the North to escape the Flemish Calvinists, but returned later.
