Kerberos (also known as S / 2011 (134340) 1, S / 2011 P 1 or P4) is a small natural satellite of Pluto. The moon was discovered on 28 June 2011 by the Hubble Space Telescope. Further observations were made on 3 and 18 July 2011 and on July 20, 2011, P4 was confirmed as moon. P4 has only 10% of the brightness of Nix, another Moon of Pluto.
Kerberos has a diameter of 10 to 12 km and was the smallest known moon from Pluto until 2012 Styx was discovered. Styx is about as big as Kerberos. P4 has an average of 59,000 km from Pluto, between the other Nix and Hydra manages, and takes about 32.1 days on a complete job around the center of gravity of the Pluto system. The moon is irregular in shape. The sin New Horizons made it clear that previous assumptions were incorrect. Researchers assumed that Kerberos had larger dimensions with a dark surface. The opposite is true: Kerberos is small but clear.
