Léonard De Cuyper (Antwerp, January 1, 1813 - Antwerp, 18 February 1870) was a Belgian sculptor. Life and work

The Cuyper was a pupil of his brother Jean-Baptiste De Cuyper. He studied at the Academy in Antwerp. He was a sculptor at the Russian Court for some time. Back in Belgium, he built the house Cuypershof with detached studio on the corner of Isabellalei / Lange Leemstraat in Antwerp. (The house was broken down in 1928 and replaced by new building. Nowadays, Résidence Isabelle is located.) In 1854, the Art Covenant was founded under the direction of Cuypers, which was later also called the Dutch Art Covenant to distinguish the French-speaking Cercle Artistique.
