Tea flour

A tea flower is a sphere of green or black tea leaves and one or more edible dried flowers in the middle. These leaves are tied together with a cotton thread to form a small sphere. By pouring hot water at the tea flower, the flower emerges. The dried flowers include the marigold, jasmine, roselle, daylilies and osmanthus.

The flowers are not yet known in the Netherlands. In China and England, the product is much better accepted, so tea flowers are often used in high tea.

Yunnan is one of the eastern provinces of China where tea flowers are made. The tea flowers are then exported to Europe and America. China has been doing this for more than 30 years.
