China Digital Times

China Digital Times is a Web 2.0 news site that focuses on China's social and political transition and China's increasing role in the world. The website is regularly blocked by the Chinese authorities. CDT was founded in 2003 by Xiao Qiang.

The site is hosted by the University of California - Berkeley (China Internet Project) and is mainly edited by faculty and journalist school students, but also by volunteer bloggers worldwide. CDT collects news, analyzes and comments about China from English-language media and translates content and daily comments from Chinese weblog culture literature. The website collects, amplifies and distributes content through Web 2.0 technology such as weblogs, wiki, RSS, social bookmarking, tagging, and sharing photos and videos.

The content is divided into different sections, including politics, economy, society, law, culture, science technology, the world, Hong Kong and Taiwan. The website has special sections for book reviews, multimedia topics, podcasting and topics that are long-standing in the news, such as the environmental crisis, human rights, information revolution, the Beijing Olympic Games and the great divide. Each posting is also provided with a number of special tags (tags). Externe link
