In Greek mythology, Liparo is the colonizer of the island of Lipari,

Liparo was the son of King Auson (in turn, the son of Ulisse), sovereign of a Italic kingdom, while the mother's name is unknown. Forced by his brothers to leave his father's kingdom, Liparo joined a group of warriors from the Aeolian Islands. On the largest of the islands, which took the name of Lipari, he founded a thriving colony, while the other islands were used for agriculture.

One day with a group of followers came to Lipari Eolo, who made friends with Liparo to the point that they made a profitable exchange for both of them: Liparo gave Eolo the dominion on the island, along with the hand of her daughter Ciane, and in return the king of the winds went on to allow Liparo to reach the continent he had longed for.

So Liparo arrived in the Sorrento area, where he became king of a local population and his death was celebrated as a hero. Notemodify wikitesto Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto Voices correlateemodify wikitesto
