Satsuma Peninsula

The Satsuma Peninsula (in Japanese 薩摩 半島 Satsuma-hantō) is a projection projecting south from the southwestern region of Kyushu Island, Japan. It is bordered to the west by the East China Sea, east to the Kagoshima Bay in front of the Ōsumi peninsula. It belongs administratively to the Prefecture of Kagoshima and hosts the capital. At the southern tip of the peninsula lie Mount Kaimon and the thermal springs of Ibusuki Onsen.

The peninsula is known for the gold fields and the textile and chemical industries. It also hosts fish processing plants.
