Stijn is the brother of Jens De Belder and lives with his friend Tim Cremers. Since an accident in his youth, Stijn has a disability, but despite this physical disability, he is turning himself into a diligent student. By that attitude he is quickly accepted by Jens' friends, he drops the plans to withdraw into a student cot and decides to permanently reside with Tim. Over time, however, he gets feelings for Katrien Snackaert, the friend of Tim. Initially, he is still rejected, but eventually there is something between them. Jens, however, approves the relationship and threatens to tell Tim if they do not stop. After a few times being rejected by Katrien and having no reason to stay, Stijn goes to London to study.
