Thomas Berry (Greensboro, November 9, 1914 - June 1, 2009) was an American theologian and cultural historian. He was especially known as the representative of deep ecology.

Berry taught at various universities about the cultural heritage of China and India and for many years was chairman of the "International Teilhard de Chardin Society". In his work, he studied deep ecology. According to Berry, a good understanding of the history and functioning of the universe is under development, necessary for the good self-functioning as an individual and as a species.
