Wankan (王冠) (Japanese: "King's Crown" or "Emperor's Crown") (also called Okan) is a kata practiced in many Karate styles. You do not know much about the story of this kata. It originates from Tomari-te and in modern karate it is practiced in various styles: Shorin-ryu, Shotokan, Genseiryū and Matsubayashi-ryu.

It is often considered an advanced kata despite being short. Karate Shoshin Nagamine considered wankan his favorite kata. A quote from his book describes the kata as: "Featuring unified attacks and defenses". Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto Links externalize the wikitesto
