Denis Pettiaux (1956) is a Belgian acrobat and former referee of EBU production without borders.
His first touch with Game without Frontiers is when he participated in a broadcast in the French town of Annecy in 1981. The Belgian team put Pettiaux in a piece of string dance and also put in their joker, giving extra points. Pettiaux performs well in this part and partly because the Belgian team finishes that evening first. They also qualify for the final, but they are not successful; they end at the bottom of the rankings.
In 1990, Pettiaux was appointed referee of Game without Frontiers. He uses acrobatics for certain demonstrations of games. His famous exclamation "Attention, prêts?" He uses the start signal before he blows on his whistle. He does this until 1999, in total 122 episodes long.
Pettiaux returns to his original job as a teacher for people with disabilities after stopping Game without Frontiers.
