He started his own restaurant 't Fornuis in 1977 in Antwerp. Since 1986, the restaurant has 1 Michelin star. In 2008 and 2009 he was ambassador to Antwerp Proeft - Taste of Antwerp, Belgium's largest culinary festival (Roger van Damme was his successor as ambassador).
