Lars Ootes (April 16, 1991) is a Dutch schaker and International Master.
Ootes ended in the Open Dutch Championships Chess of 2009 in the fifth place with 6½ out of 9 and thus just lacked a GM standard. He defeated Andey Vovk and Friso Nijboer in the last 4 laps, lost from Jan Timman and won by Dimitri Reinderman. In August 2010, he achieved his first IM standard in the open championship of Vienna. In August 2009, Ootes became a Dutch Junior Champion at the Euro Chess Tournament in Enschede. In August 2010, he achieved his second IM standard at the Young Masters ten camp in Enschede. In 2010 and 2011 he became Dutch Youth Champion. In August 2012 he achieved his third IM standard during the open international Barcelona Sevens tournament. At the end of 2009, Ootes was in the top 50 of the Dutch rating list.
