Maurane (12 November 1960, Elsene), born as Claudine Luypaerts, is a Belgian singer.

biography

Mauran's father was a director of the Verviers Music Academy in her youth. As a result, Maurane came into contact with the music world at a young age. Maurane started playing violin games at the age of 8. In 1979 she participated in the contest "Brel and Mille Temps", with Philippe Lafontaine. Pierre Barouh, a French songwriter, discovered her at the time.

Her first single appeared in 1980 on the label Saravah by Pierre Barouh. However, Maurane's career will only be successful in 1985 when she is in Paris in the halls. A year later her first album called Dancer appears. A year later she plays in the comic musical Starmania which lasts 6 months. Her second album "Maurane" appears in 1989 and takes platinum five times. The release delivers some big hits. Especially the single 'Toutes Les Mamas' scores high in the charts.

In 1991 Maurane released the successful album Ami ou Ennemi, well for 15 platinum records. Singles such as "Du Mal", "Mentir" and especially "Sur un prélude de Bach", a composition of Jean-Claude Vannier, are all hits. Maurane worked regularly with songwriter Vannier.
