Cornelis Massis

The enchantment of Saint Antonius in the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium

Cornelis Massijs (Antwerp, ca. 1510 - 1556 or 1557) was a South Dutch painter, draftsman and etcher. He was the son of Quinten Massijs (I) and younger brother of Jan Massijs.

He was admitted to Antwerp St. Lucas Guild in 1532. His works belong to the Renaissance style. The Rijksmuseum Amsterdam has kept him from returning the lost son. His style is compared to that of Joachim Patinir but she is less fluid and his human figures have been less successful.
