Masashi Hamauzu

Masashi Hamauzu (浜 渦 正 志) (Munich, Germany, September 20, 1971) is a composer for video games. Hamauzu was the main composer of the company Square Enix. This role he took over from his former colleague Nobuo Uematsu. In the meantime Hamauzu has left at Square Enix in 2010 and has become a freelance composer.

Hamauzu has become famous for his compositions for the series of Square Enix SaGa games. He got more fame when he was allowed to write the music for the Final Fantasy X game. In 2009, he gained the honor of writing the final Final Fantasy XIII. He also wrote the music for the sequel to FFXIII, called Final Fantasy XIII-2, along with composers Naoshi Mizuta and Mitsuto Suzuki. With the same composers (Mizuta and Suzuki), he wrote to the soundtrack for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, which appeared on CD in late November 2013.
