Menno van Meeteren Brouwer


Menno Simon Jacobus of Meeteren Brouwer (Zwolle, October 11, 1882 - Rijswijk, July 11, 1974) was a Dutch painter, book band designer, draftsman and illustrator.

He worked until 1910 in The Hague, from 1910 to 1922, he worked in Medan, Indonesia, in Paris from 1922 to 1923, then in 1924 in Wijk aan Zee and from 1924 in Rijswijk ZH.

From 1904 to 1907 he studied at the arts and crafts school in Haarlem and the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunst in Amsterdam and was a student of August Allebe.

He made children's book illustrations, school records, schoolbook illustrations, portraits, landscapes and numerous drawings of Indian life. In the book By Hella Haasse's lesson are 9 images of school records on Indian subjects. He was also a book band designer. Bibliography Literature
