Chris Van Puyvelde is a Belgian football coach. He is sports adviser at the Jupiler Pro League. Career

Van Puyvelde made his first experience as a coach at Standard Wetteren, who then played in Third Class. Van Puyvelde, a sports teacher of education, later became acquainted with Sint-Niklaas, where he coordinated the youths. In the early 90's Van Puyvelde moved as assistant coach to KSC Lokeren. The club was just downgraded to Second Class when he was promoted to the main coach. Van Puyvelde was eventually succeeded by James Storme during the 1994/95 season. After Lokeren he joined Eendracht Aalst. Van Puyvelde became Technical Director and took players like Peter Van der Heyden to Eendracht. During the 1997/98 season, trainer Urbain Haesaert was fired. Van Puyvelde followed him for a short period of time.

In 2000, René Verheyen, Club Brugge trainer, was back auxiliary trainer. The Norwegian Trond Sollied became the new head coach. He took Van Puyvelde to Bruges as his second assistant. Also, Peter Van der Heyden made the switch to Club Brugge in 2000. The passage of Sollied proved to be a golden thing. From Puyvelde and the Norwegian trainer, it was well suited to each other and the results of Club Brugge were also good. In 2002, Club de Beker of Belgium won and a season later played the elftal champion. In that order, Club Brugge also took the most important prizes over the next two seasons. In 2005 Sollied announced via a video message that he was stepping up. Together with Puyvelde, he drove to the Greek Olympiakos Piraeus.

In the summer of 2007 he returned to KAA Gent with Van Puyvelde and second assistant Čedomir Janevski. At the end of the season Ghent won the final of the Cup of Belgium, but lost it. Sollied watched and drove to Heerenveen.

Van Puyvelde followed him again. Heerenveen completed a volatile course, but made the final of the KNVB cup. In the final, Heerenveen defeated FC Twente after penalty kick. Following his resignation at FC Brussels at the end of January 2011, he followed Gunther Hofmans as Technical Director at Beerschot AC.

In 2013, Van Puyvelde was appointed as a sports advisor to the Jupiler Pro League to lead the discussions between the professional football clubs in Belgium at the sports and technical level.
