Great Western Line

The Great Western Line is a project to transfer water from the upstream streams of the six rivers to the southwest of the People's Republic of China to dry areas in northern China through reservoirs, tunnels and natural rivers. These include the Mekong, Yarlung Tsangpo and Salween rivers.

It is 200 billion liters (0.2 billion m³) or 200 cubic kilometers of water that is moved annually by this system.

The project is still on the drawing board and is under attack by environmentalists. Also see 30° 02′ 30″ NB, 90° 36′ 0″ OL
