Moan (pop group)

Moan was a pop group from Arnhem, founded in 1964 by Erlend Josephy, initially operating under the name The Moans.

History

Although the group did not have big hits, well-known musicians played along with them, such as Herman Brood, Arnie Treffers, Jaap Dekker and, albeit briefly, Jan Rietman. As The Moans they mostly played beat, later, under the abbreviated name Moan, the style shifted more to rhythm-and-blues. At their live performances in Germany they performed as a Moan before the break and after the break as The Shakers with rugged rock 'n' roll. This was so successful that they finally changed their name to Long Tall Ernie and the Shakers.

Their first single Flowers Everywhere was written by Harry Rijnbergen of the Groningen beat group Ro-d-Ys, who also recorded it as a demo. Band members Other members Discography (singles)
