New Papeschorpolder

The Nieuw-Papeschorpolder is a polder south of Sluiskil, belonging to the Polders in the waterways to Axel and Ghent.

The polder, formerly known as the Polder at Karel la Groe, was formed when, in the context of the construction of the Ghent-Terneuzen Canal, 108 hectares of salt were also reclaimed to the east of this canal. This work was completed in 1825.

Because of the channel widening around 1968, part of the Nieuw Papeschorpolder has also been excavated. 51° 15′ 33″ NB, 3° 50′ 16″ OL
