Peace of Baden

Deputies of the Badener Peace Congress 1714, painting by Johann Rudolf Huber

The Peace of Baden was the treaty that ended the hostilities between France and the Holy Roman Empire, which were in war since the beginning of the Spanish Succession War. It was signed on September 7, 1714 in Baden, Switzerland and it was a supplement to the Peace of Utrecht and the Peace of Rastatt, with which Emperor Karel VI accepted the Peace of Utrecht on behalf of the Habsburg Monarchy. In the Peace of Baden, the officially missing peace provisions between France and the Holy Roman Empire were accepted, thus ending the last of the many conflicts of the Spanish Succession War.
