Sidney Webb
Sidney James Webb (the first baron of Passfield), PC (London, July 13, 1859 - Liphook, Hampshire, October 13, 1947) was a British socialist, economist and reformer. He was in 1884 together with George Bernard Shaw one of the first members of the Fabian Society (they became three months after the founding member). Together with his wife, Beatrice Webb, Annie Besant, Graham Wallas, Edward R. Pease, Hubert Bland, and Sydney Olivier, Shaw and Webb changed the Fabian Society into England's premier political intellectual society in the Edwardian era and beyond. He wrote the original clause IV, for the British Labor Party. This was included in the principle program in 1918 and included the nationalization of the means of production. English Wikisource
