Visit to Picasso

Visit to Picasso (in English: "Visit to Picasso") is a Belgian documentary from 1949 directed by Paul Haesaerts. The film

In this 21-minute short film, Haesaerts goes by the Spanish painter Pablo Picasso in his studio in Vallauris. Picasso paints on large glass plates, while Haesaerts' camera captures its creative process from the other. With this, the maker presented himself as a forerunner of the famous art film Le Mystère Picasso (1956) by Henri-Georges Clouzot, in which Picasso also paints on large glass plates while the director is shooting from the other side.

In 1951, "Visit to Picasso" was nominated in the "Best Documentary" category by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). Sources
