Pointers (Belgium), orthogonal (The Netherlands), is a way of turning direction, in this case opposite to a clockwise twist: 12 → 9 → 6 → 3 → 12.
Turning the left turn is turning to the left in the top, which can be confusing because the bottom to the right is rotated. Therefore, they speak earlier in Dutch against the (clockwise) clock.
In goniometry and generally in mathematics, counterpoint is seen as a positive direction of rotation, and wisdom as negative.
