Cheratinosomi

Keratinosomes or Odland Bodies are granules wrapped in a membrane produced by epidermis cells called keratinocytes located within the spinous layer (or Malpighi). They have a diameter of 0.1-0.3 microns and are also called multilamellar bodies or lamellar granules for the characteristic internal organization of light and dark alternating lamella.

Keratinosomes have also been found in non-keratinized epithelials. After their formation they are excreted by the cell for exocytosis. They contain glycolipidic hydrophobic material (acylglicosilceramide) which is released into the intercellular space of the granular layer, forming a waterproof barrier. The lipid nature of their content contributes to the thickening of the keratinocyte membrane. Voices correlateemodify wikitesto Links externalize the wikitesto
