Outer Banks

de Outer Banks

The Outer Banks (abbreviated to OBX) form the North Carolina (US) coastal area. The area is comparable to the Wadden Sea, with an outermost row of sandbanks and dune rocks attached to the rugged hinterland with salt marshes. In contrast to the Dutch and German coasts, the barky marshals are generally undecided and are regularly exposed to the effects of hurricanes. Also, the climate is a little warmer.

A part of the Outer Banks' waddeneilands are built close to holiday homes, but part is completely pristine, like National Seashore.

The island of Roanoke Island is known from the Lost Colony, which was established in 1585 between the Outer Banks and the mainland.
