Remco Pardoel


Remco Pardoel (Oss, May 23, 1969) is a Dutch martial artist.

Pardoel, nicknamed Grizzly, is in combat sports as an expert in jiujitsu, Brazilian jiujitsu (BJJ) and MMA, with more than ten national and international titles (in jiujitsu, brazilian jiujitsu, judo and grappling). Below are six European and one world title. In addition to practicing traditional martial arts, he made the move to MMA as one of the first combatants.

Pardoel made his MMA debut in the UFC 2: No Way Out tournament in March 1994. By defeating his first two opponents, he reached the semi-finals. He lost this from BJJ expert Royce Gracie, via a stranglehold. In 1995 he returned to the UFC cage, in UFC 7: The Brawl in Buffalo. After winning his first party, he lost in the semi-finals of the Brazilian Vale tudo fighter and later tournament winner Marco Ruas. In 2003, he defeated his last MMA party, after which he concluded his MMA career with a total of nine wins, six losses and one draw.

In the nineties of the twentieth century, Pardoel introduced the BJJ in Europe. In the meantime, there are dozens of schools in the Netherlands that teach in this branch of sport.

Pardoel was the first non-Brazilian to compete in the class of absoluto (best eight of the world) in the black band owners division in 1996.
