Stefaan Decraene


Stefaan Decraene (24 November 1964) was chairman of the Executive Committee of Dexia Bank Belgium until 2011 and member of the Executive Committee of the Dexia NV. Banker

After his secondary studies at the Saint Francis-Xaverius Institute in Bruges, Decraene became a licentiate in applied economics (TEW) at the Catholic University of Leuven, with specialization international relations. After that he followed specialization at Ehsal and Krauthammer.

He was active with the Bacob Bank and the Artesia Bank since 1988, from 2001 to cover various positions within the Dexia Group. Since January 2006 he was Chairman of Dexia Bank Belgium's Management Committee, in 2008 he became a member of the management committee of Dexia NV. He was argued by Arco - the cooperative company within the Christian Labor Movement - with 14% one of Dexia's major shareholders.

He also served as chairman of Febelfin, the umbrella federation for the Belgian financial sector. As a result of the sudden upturn - on its own, Decraene also took dismissal.

He became a member of the (French) Management Committee of BNP Paribas and was responsible for the group's international retail activities.
