The Vaal Triangle, the English Vaal Triangle, is an urban region in the form of a triangle in the South African provinces of Gauteng and for a small part in the Free State. The region is marked by the places Vereeniging, Vanderbijlpark and Sasolburg. The area is named after the Vaal River.

The places Meyerton north of Vereeniging, Sharpeville, Boipatong, Bophelong, Sebokeng and surrounding areas (including Evaton, Orange Farm, etc.), Heidelberg, Zamdela and Potchefstroom are often included in this urban area.

The region has a lot of iron, steel, oil and coal industry, which means that the region is known for air pollution. In Dutch, Vaal Triangle is also called Vuildriehoek.

An important university for the region is Vaal University of Technology, formerly Vaal Triangle Technikon.
