Bijenblad

Beef leaf (Mellitis melissophyllum) is a relatively rare perennial plant in the lip flower family (Lamiaceae), which occurs predominantly in mountainous areas with open-leaf forest in Central and Southern Europe, and more particularly in lightly shaded areas with a dry, stony and calcareous ground.

This plant has thick underground roots from which straight, angular hairy stems grow with roughened strong smelling leaves. The white tones with pink tints are twisted and have bell-shaped calf tubes. They grow 1-3 in the armpits of the upper leaves. The calamari leaves continue to enclose the fruit. These consist of four soft notes.
