Emergo (recreation area)


Emergo is the name of a recreation area at approximately equal distance in the places Oude Pekela, Scheemda and Winschoten. The area is 49 hectares. The plan was designed by the State Forestry, which also has the maintenance and management of the area. Of the 49 hectares of forest and playgrounds and sunbathing areas, nine hectares are swallowed by a fish pond in the middle of the park. The recreation area is located in the area of ​​the same waterfront.

The plans to place a fish pond in this place date from 1958 at their most pristine stage. The official opening of the recreation area took place on November 23, 1973 by the deputy of Groningen J.J. Prince.
