The Saalach is a 103 kilometer long tributary of the Salzach, which flows through Austria and Germany. The Saalach originates in the Kitzbühel Alps at an altitude of about 2,000 meters. He then flows through Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Maishofen, Saalfelden and Lofer to Germany. In Germany, it goes to Bad Reichenhall, just before this place is a reservoir. After Bad Reichenhall, the river crosses between Austria and Germany until it reaches just north of Salzburg in the Salzach.
