Samuel Rodigast

Samuel Rodigast (Schlöben, October 19, 1649 - Berlin, March 29, 1708) was a German poet, who became known as a text writer of the coral Was Gott tut, das ist wohlgetan. This coral has been incorporated into some of their compositions by some Baroque composers, including Johann Pachelbel and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Rodigast was born as the son of a Lutheran minister. He studied at the University of Jena, where he graduated in 1671 after graduation. In 1680 he went to Berlin to become a conrector. Despite being able to work in other cities, he lived in Berlin until his death. Source
