The Handaberd fortress is a fortress located in the Nagorno Karabakh republic of Shahumian.

It is located on the right side of the road that Karvachar, the provisional capital of the region, leads to Martakert, near the village of Nor Getashen. It is in an elevated position at 1665 m altitude, and its construction dates back to the fifth century, although in the following centuries it was expanded especially in the city wall.

Of the structure remains the essential plant with well-outlined walls and its towers; is accessed only by a narrow path that draws from the bottom through the woods and reaches the fort on its eastern side, while the west (on the valley) lies on a rocky spur that made it unsuitable.
