The island of Pascali (novel)


Pascali's Island (Pascali's Island) is a 1980's Historic Barry Unsworth novel. In the United States, the novel appeared as The Idol Hunter.

The novel was finalist to the 1980 edition of the Booker Prize.

The novel is set in an island that is the outpost of the Ottoman Empire in 1908. Basil Pascali is a spy who regularly reports to Istanbul the activities of local people, and fears to be discovered at all times. When an English archaeologist arrives on the island, Pascali is suspicious of him, and the involvement of the archeologist with the woman he loves feeds more tension. AdaptationModify wikitesto
