The Third Street Promenade (or Santa Monica Promenade) is a pedestrian street in downtown Santa Monica, California.
With its shops, cinemas and restaurants is considered one of the major shopping and nightlife of Los Angeles westside and is the largest pedestrian street in the entire Los Angeles subway area. Seeing its proximity to the Pacific Ocean is also a popular tourist destination.
The beginnings of pedestrianizing the road date back to the sixties.
The Promenade is characterized by the presence of numerous street artists and musicians.
The south end ends in the Frank Gehry shopping center Santa Monica Place.
