Aronne Mauri (Lesmo, 1804 - Milan, July 9, 1874) was an Italian engraver. Biography modifies wikitesto
He was born in Lesmo, a Gernetto estate owned by Giacomo Mellerio. Deaf at birth, he is the son of the head gardener of the estate. He is taken over by Count Mellerio, and started his literary-artistic studies at the Institute for Deaf Diseases in Genoa. Back in the estate, he dedicates himself intensely to the copper engraving and to the counts of the reproduction of various pictorial works owned by him, which are sent to his friends by the same. He also realizes, in the thirties / forties of the eighteenth century, the portrait of his benefactor, of which a copy is kept at the Civic Collection of Bertarelli Prints in Milan, another at the Modern Art Gallery Ricci Oddi in Piacenza, another in a private collection. He is admitted, for his skill, as assistant to the Engraving Chair at the Brera School. He died in Milan on July 9, 1874. He is remembered as a legatee in the will (dated October / December 1847) of the aforementioned Count. In Milan he lived in an apartment in the palace of Count Mellerio in Corso Roma (now Corso di Porta Romana) n. 13. During the summer he was a guest of the Count's estate in Lesmo, in the villa called "La Boffalora".
His works are at the Civic Collection of Achille Bertarelli's prints in Milan, at the Pinacoteca di Brera (warehouses), in private collections. Interesting is a drawing book (number 70) that refers to the Villa del Gernetto, in a private collection. Bibliografiamodifica wikitesto
