In 1904/05, the first Braunschweig football championship was played, organized by the football federation for the Duchy of Braunschweig. Eintracht Braunschweig became champion and placed himself in the final round for the German national title. The club defeated Hannoverscher FC 96, FuCC Cricket-Viktoria 1897 Magdeburg and was then played against VfB Leipzig, but this club retired due to the high travel expenses.
