Dino Staffa (Santa Maria in Fabriago, August 14, 1906 - Rome, August 7, 1977) was an Italian religious and cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.
Staffa studied at the seminar of Imola and at the Papal Regional Seminary Benedetto XV (of which at that time was the later Cardinal Marcello Mimmi Rector) in Bologna. At the Faculty of Theology of the University of Bologna he graduated as a doctor of theology. He was priest dedicated on May 25, 1929. After that, he worked as a priest in the Diocese of Imola. In 1931 he went to Rome for further study. From 1933 to 1950 he worked as a pastor in Rome. Pope Pius XI appointed him in 1936 as an extraordinary host. From 1941, he taught church history and canonical law at the Papal Lateran University. In 1948, he became an auditor (= judge) at Sacra Rota Romana, the highest court dealing with family law.
In 1958, Pope Pius XII appointed him as secretary of the H.Congregation for Seminars and Universities. Pope John XXIII raised him in 1960 to Titular Archbishop of Caesarea di Palestine. Archbishop Staffa participated in the Second Vatican Council.
In April 1967, Paul proclaimed Paul VI Staffa as pro-prefect of the Supreme Court of the Apostolic Signature. Not much later he received the rank of prefect, when Paul created him cardinal during the consistory of June 26th of that year. The Sacro Cuore di Cristo Re became his title church. In 1976 he was awarded the Santa Maria sopra Minerva as the title church.
He died at the age of 71 and was buried in the family crest in Imola.
