Guanilated cyclase

Guanilate cyclase, also known as guanil cyclase, is an enzyme belonging to the lira family.

The enzyme catalyzes the conversion of guanosynthyrophosphate (GTP) into cyclic monophosphate guanosine (cGMP) and pyrophosphate.

Currently, different types of cyclanic guanilate are recognized, including a cell-linked form and an active cytosol.

The guanilate cyclase has: a receptor domain, N-terminal available for binding to the extracellular messenger; a transmembrane segment crossing the double phospholipid layer of the membrane; a regulatory domain with the ability to stimulate or exclude enzyme activity; a C-terminal catalytic domain implementing the second messenger synthesis (GMPc) from GTP.
