Jan Joostzn de Rovere of Montfoort (1532 - 27 February 1582) was the 12th Viscount of Montfoort and last descendant of the Rovere family. Lifecycle
He was a son of Joost van Montfoort and Anna van Lalaing. In 1539 his father passed away at the age of 29, after which his uncle Hendrik van Abbenbroek became a regent viscount of Montfoort until Jan IV was an adult. Little is known about John's reign, but Henry van Brederode supported the Dutch revolt in the Eighty Years War. Jan married his niece Maria van Manderscheid, their marriage remained childless, after which, after the death of Jan IV, his sister Phillipa and her husband Jan de Merode inherited all titles and possessions and take over.
Jan IV also had two illegitimate children Tristan (1564-1622) and Polinarde (1565-1634) who also left some possessions in his will.
