Nico Baak


Nicolaas (Nico) Baak (Amsterdam, May 10, 1892 - The Hague, November 21, 1961) was a Dutch artist. He was a painter, artist, illustrator and graphic artist.

He was a student of the National College of Amsterdam in Amsterdam and thereafter at the National Academy of the Arts there. He became a teacher in Amsterdam in 1935 at the Amsterdam Montessorilyceum. He allowed his students to work with multiple materials, even with oil paintings. What was unusual at that time. One of his students was Mance Post. In 1942 Baak became a head teacher for painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague.
