Bert Bruijn


H.B. (Bert) Bruijn (Haarlem, January 29, 1949 - August 8, 2015) was a Dutch politician of the PvdA.

He was a member of the city council of Haarlem from 1974 to 1994 and was also in the municipality from 1986 to 1990. After that, Bruijn was a member of the Provincial States of North Holland from 1995 to 2007, while in that period he also owned / managed an advisory agency focusing in the area of ​​classical monumental ships.

In February 2007 Bruijn was appointed mayor of the municipality of Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude. At the end of January 2013, he instructed the mayor to give up as a volunteer for development cooperation projects in the Zimbabwean city of Mutare; With this city in his wife's hometown, Haarlem has a town band. The municipality of Haarlemmerliede and Spaarnwoude performed at the end of 2012 as Pieter Heiliegers as his successor and on February 1, 2013, Bruijn followed.
