He arrived in southern America, in the newly conquered Imperial Inca, in 1534 at the age of 20 with Pedro de Alvarado, Nicaraguan conqueror. In the battles that saw the Pizarro brothers and the Almagristas led by Diego de Almagro and his son, Centeno deployed on the side of the Pizarro of New Castile. After the fall of both races, Diego fought with the real forces of Pedro de la Gasca following the fall and death of Blasco Núñez Vela by Gonzalo Pizarro's hand.
